A HEADS UP FOR THE NOVEMBER 7, 2007, PARK BOARD MEETING

Here are a couple of highlights:

5:45 P.M. ADMINISTRATION & FINANCE COMMITTEE. There will be a 30 minute study/report by Director of Finance Karen Robinson on the 2008 Budget Update.

6:30 P.M. PLANNING COMMITTEE. There will be a 20 minute study/report on the “Updated Crown Hydro Proposal” by Crown Hydro representatives.

Staff is referring this issue to the Board for a recommendation before proceeding with evaluation and/or negotiations. But when Park Watch was at the Park Board on Friday to review the upcoming agenda, the “Updated Crown Hydro Proposal” was not included in the Commissioners’ meeting packets.

So the question is: Why would the Park Board’s administrative staff allow this–or any other–matter to come before a committee without knowing what is being proposed and without copies available for the Commissioners (and the public) in advance of the meeting?

If Crown Hydro representatives can not provide copies of the updated proposal in time to be included in the Commissioners’ meeting packets, then the issue should not be on the agenda.
