The following item is a summary, dated November 7, 2013, by Barry Schade of the current status of the SWLRT Project:
Action at the Corridor Management Committee
Yesterday, the Corridor Management Committee for the SW LRT, gave the nod to 3 additional studies for the project.
This committee is made up of mayors, county commissioners, Met Council members, etc. and is chaired by Susan Haigh the Met Council head.
Consultants will be hired to do analysis in three areas: freight rail relocation, water resources impacted by the shallow tunnel, and landscaping of the Kenilworth.
There was general agreement on the scope of the studies, including Mayor Rybak.
The studies are expected to be completed by the end of this calendar year, with municipal consent scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
As always, I am willing to try to answer questions or receive comments.
