2011 PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED
On Saturday, November 19, 2011 the MPRB announced the winners of its 2011 Photo Contest. You can see the winning entries here [see link below]. There were 16 winners out of more than 350 entries.
More than 350 spectacular photos were submitted in the second annual Picture a Park photo contest.
Sponsored by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB), People for Parks (PFP) and National Camera Exchange, the contest is designed to highlight Minneapolis parks and lakes, year round.
The contest, open to amateurs of all ages, encourages photographers to focus their photos in the categories of beauty, fun and events in Minneapolis parks. Anita Fiedler of Elk River took home the gold “Best of Show” award in the Adult division with her photo, “Lost Feather.”
Naomi Borowsky of Minnetonka earned the same honors in the Youth division with her photo titled “Sailboats at Lake Harriet.” Winning photos are currently on display at http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=1227 and will soon be featured in a poster which will be displayed in recreation centers throughout Minneapolis in 2012.
Photographers are encouraged to keep taking photos for submission to the 2012 photo contest, with entries accepted May 1-Sept. 4, 2012. More information about the contest can be found at http://www.minneapolisparks.org after Jan. 1, 2012.
