HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FEBRUARY 20, 2008 PARK BOARD MEETING

REGULAR BOARD MEETING

The Board adopted resolutions authorizing Congressional Appropriations for the Missing Link and the East Phillips Park Cultural and Community Center.

The Board voted to support the Mayor’s “Blueprint for Action: Preventing Youth Violence in Minneapolis.”

The Board approved the Letter of Agreement with the Chicago Region Toyota Dealers Association and authorized staff to execute a Contract with the terms outlined in the Letter of Agreement.

The Board also authorized acceptance of six low bids for paint totaling $97,500. Six motorcycles were purchased for $89,992.

Superintendent Jon Gurban submitted his monthly report for January.

LEGISLATION AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE

The Committee voted to alter the 2008 Legislative Capital Bonding priorities voted on previously by removing three items and then adding two others. Here is what happened:

1. Grand Rounds Scenic Byway–$10,000,000 + $2,000,000.
2. Regional Park Playgrounds–$2,000,000.
3. Father Hennepin Regional Park Rehab–$1,000,000.
4. Theodore Wirth Regional Park & J.D. Rivers Garden–$5,000,000.
5. Health & Wellness Centers–$2,700,000.

THE PARK BOARD’S 2008 LEGISLATIVE BONDING AGENDA–AFTER

1. Grand Rounds Scenic Byway–$10,000,000 + $2,000,000.
2. Minnehaha Falls Lower Glen Restoration (with Minnehaha Creek Watershed District)–$5,300,000.
3. Father Hennepin Regional Park Rehab–$1,000,000.
4. East Phillips Park Cultural & Community Center–$3,112,000.
