A HEADS UP FOR THE FEBRUARY 6, 2008, PARK BOARD MEETING

Some highlights:

5:00 P.M. REGULAR BOARD MEETING. The Board will be voting again on the controversial, questionable and complex lease agreement (The Reciprocal Use Agreement or RUA) with DeLaSalle High School.

The Board will also be voting on the Superintendent’s 2008 Work Plan.

And the Board will be discussing the Citizens Participation Ordinance. This also has been a controversial subject.

5:45 P.M. LEGISLATIVE AND INTERGOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE. There will be a discussion of the Legislative Agenda.

6:15 P.M. RECREATION COMMITTEE. There will be a report on Youth Violence Prevention.

6:55 P.M. ADMINISTRATION AND FINANCE COMMITTEE. The Board is introducing sponsorships into the parks. The Board will be voting on a sponsorship agreement with Toyota which will give the Park Board $300,000 and the use of 10 Toyota vehicles over the next 3 years in exchange for sponsorship rights to the Bike Tour and Earth Day and “free access” to the AIDS Walk, Uptown Art Fair, the Loppett and a number of other events.

The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 14 beginning at 5:00 P.M.
